Centre for Research on Environmental Systems and Statistics
The Lancaster University Centre for Research on Environmental Systems (CRES) was established as a major research arm of the Institute of Environmental and Biological Sciences when the latter was set up in 1987. The Centre was conceived as a focus of attention for the wide variety of research on different aspects of the physical and biological environment. Since its conception, the centre has been joined by the Statistics Research group from the Mathematics Department, together with the control group from the Engineering Department. Within the recently established Faculty of Science and Technology, the Centre continues to stimulate inter-disciplinary research at Lancaster University and elsewhere.

Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland
Formed in January 1995, the ESAI (Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland) is an association of individuals working in or with an interest in the environmental area in Ireland. The membership is drawn from all sectors and disciplines, ranging from biology and ecology to engineering, hydrology and management and from professors to amateur naturalists. The association provides a network for people in the environmental area, promotes good environmental practice and better understanding of the environment and provides an expert and up-to-date lobby platform for the environmental concerns in Ireland and abroad.

Friends of the Earth Ireland
Friends of the Earth is one of the oldest environmental groups with the mission statement ‘to shift the balance of Irish policy and practice in favour of environmental justice and sustainability at home and internationally.’

IPCC-Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
The Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change is the leading body for the assessment of climate change, established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic consequences.

RealClimate
RealClimate is a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists. They aim to provide a quick response to developing stories and provide the context sometimes missing in mainstream commentary. The discussion is restricted to scientific topics and avoids any political or economic implications of the science.
UNHabitat
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.
United Nations Environment programme
UNEP, established in 1972, is the voice for the environment within the United Nations system. UNEP acts as a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator to promote the wise use and sustainable development of the global environment. To accomplish this, UNEP works with a wide range of partners, including United Nations entities, international organizations, national governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and civil society.
