Trinity College’s research strategy encompasses all major academic disciplines and is committed to world-class research activities in important topics in Science, Engineering, Social Sciences, Medicine and the Arts. The College strategic focus is on five key areas, which are outlined in detail on the main College Research page. The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering carries out research across three of these main thematic areas namely:

There is a wide range of sub-activities in each of these areas which have attracted funding from national, European and international sources. The Department has collaborations with many universities and other research institutions as well as industrial partners in Ireland, Europe, USA, Russia, India, Japan, Korea, Trinidad and Australia among others. The links above will take you to more detailed information on the sub-activities within each area and a list of the principal investigators in each case.

Those interested in positions in a research topic, either as a potential postgraduate student, a research assistant or a postdoctoral fellow should contact the principal investigator in that area directly in order to discuss the opportunities available, prior to making an application to the College.
