


Welcome to the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. This is one of three departments in the School of Engineering in Trinity College. Originally founded in 1981 as the Department of Microelectronics and Electrical Engineering, it changed its name to its current title in 1995 having moved into the old Printing House building located in New Square. The Department has teaching and research facilities spread across three principal locations on campus, namely: The Printing House, Aras an Phiarsaigh and the Sami Nasr Institute.
Its principal teaching centres on the undergraduate BAI degree which has three strands: Electronic Engineering; Electronic and Computer Engineering and Computer Engineering. This programme provides sound theoretical foundation in the broad discipline which Electronic Engineering has become as well as experience in the practical application of state-of-the-art electronic engineering solutions to the development of today's technology in a modern society. The Department also runs a taught MPhil degree in Music and Media Technology jointly with the Music Department.
It has research activities in a number of specialist areas which include: Materials & Intelligent Systems, Biosciences and Translational Research and Culture & Creative Arts . More details of these activities can be found on the research pages
