The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards

TCD Drama graduates and former students again feature prominently among this year’s nominees for Irish Theatre Awards, with a total of 13 nominations in 7 categories. In two categories, Best Production and Best Designer - Lighting, all nominees were former Drama students at Trinity. Both shows nominated for Best Production were performed at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Trinity's campus theatre. Of the 13 mominations, 5 were declared award-winners at a ceremony in Vicar Street, Dublin on 27 February 2011 (marked with an asterisk in the list below).

Nominees

Best Director: * Selena Cartmell () for Medea from Siren Productions, shown at the Samuel Beckett Theatre as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival; Jo Mangan for Slattery's Sago Saga from Performance Corporation; and Wayne Jordan for Christ Deliver Us! at the Abbey Theatre.

Best Designer – Lighting: * Sinéad Wallace (BA Drama and Theatre Studies, 2004) for Corn Exchange's production of Happy Days; Sinéad McKenna for Medea from Siren Productions, shown at the Samuel Beckett Theatre as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival; and Paul Keogan for Plasticine from Corcadorca Theatre Company.

Best Designer - Set: * Aedín Cosgrove (BA Drama Studies & History of Art,1989) for Pan Pan Theatre’s production of The Rehearsal: Playing the Dane, which was shown at the Samuel Beckett Theatre as part of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival.

Best Supporting Actress: Karen Ardiff for Bedrock Productions' The Colleen Bawn.

Best Actress: Eileen Walsh () as Medea in Medea from Siren Productions, shown at the Samuel Beckett Theatre as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival; and Aoife Duffin () as Winnie Butler in Christ Deliver Us! at the Abbey Theatre.

Best New Play: * Carmel Winters () for B for Baby at the Abbey Theatre.

Best Production: Medea, directed by Selina Cartmell (1996/97) for Siren Productions; and * The Rehearsal: Playing the Dane, directed by Gavin Quinn for Pan Pan Theatre, both performed at the Samuel Beckett Theatre.
