What can Unilink offer you?
The aim of the Unilink Service is to enable you the student, to develop practical skills and strategies to help you in your role as a student both academically and socially.
Unilink is a student-centered service, this means that the sessions are guided by what the student needs and wants to do. Additionally it is up to the student whether they wish to avail of the service or not.
Unilink is available on a one-to-one basis throughout your college career. The Unilink Service is provided on campus and all Unilink offices are located in the Arts Building.
What to expect from working collaboratively with your OT?
- Individual meetings with your OT, focusing on:
- Developing a healthy balanced routine as a student.
- Developing organisational and planning skills
- Goal setting
- Managing the academic demands of your course
- Developing Relaxation skills
- Developing communication skills
- Exploring leisure opportunities
- Text contact with your OT throughout the college year and access to the service as requested (9am-5pm; weekdays).
- Developing your personal and practical strategies to engage in your role as a student through the Unilink Self-Management Programme.
- A weekly Leisure enhancement group is available for students with Asperger's Syndrome to support you in your integration into the social aspects of college life.
- Unilink OTs can offer advice on your sensory processing needs within the college environment.
- Unilink in conjunction with the Assistive Technology Officer in the Disability Service provide advice on the use of appropriate assistive technology in helping you complete your day to day tasks.
- Unilink OTs also refer to other appropriate services (e.g. Disability Officer, College Health Service, and other services inside and outside of college.) in the provision of a quality service.
