Academic Support
Academic Support is a service available to help students registered with the Disability service within the areas of study skills and essay writing.
Academic support is not an editing, proofreading or 'quick fix' solution, but aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your writing and improve your skills.
During these appointments we:
- Don't edit your work for you
- Don't advise you on what content to include
- Don't examine the same piece of work more than once, with the exception of lengthy project work and dissertations
However we can:
- Advise you on how to improve writing style and referencing skills
- Advise you on how to structure your essay, project or thesis
- Advise you on how to edit and proof read your own work
Before making an appointment you should ensure that you have checked your writing using Texthelp Read and Write Gold. We do not work with unchecked written material.
Please see the podcast describing how to use Texthelp - click here
We would strongly advise you to access our podcasts and online material before making an appointment, as these may answer many of your questions.
You can make a booking through the main office by dropping in or calling 01-8963111 or emailing disab@tcd.ie
You should make appointments well in advance - during busy periods you may have to wait several days or longer.
