Applications to the Dean of Students' Roll of Honour 2013 are now open
The Roll of Honour recognises the learning you gain through your involvement in extracurricular voluntary activities, and acknowledges your contribution to your club or society (whether in College or outside of it), to your peers, to the College, or to any other organisation, individual or community.
Any student who has given a minimum of twenty hours to any form of extracurricular voluntary activity since April 2012 is eligible to apply for inclusion, so long as the voluntary role has included some element of organisation and/or delivery of the activity. Please note too that since the Roll of Honour relates to extra-curricular activity, your qualifying activity hours must not be part of an academic course requirement or credit-bearing service experience within a degree programme.
How do I apply?
Please bear in mind the criteria laid out below. Your application has two parts to it – one online and one a signed form. Please note that the online form must be submitted first, so do apply sooner rather than later to make sure you have time to complete both aspects of the application. The form can be found here: Roll of Honour Application Form Link.(N.B. Please be aware that the programme behind the form doesn’t support saving and returning, so the form must be completed in one sitting. We recommend that you have a look at the form, prepare your answers beforehand and save them in another document before you start, and refer to that as you complete the form.)
What’s the deadline?
The deadline for receipt of electronic applications is 5pm Friday 8th March, 2013 and for signed forms, delivery before 5pm Monday 11th March, 2013. A list of FAQs can be found further down the page. If you still have a question for us once you’ve looked at the FAQs, don’t hesitate to contact deanstu@tcd.ie for help.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Dean of Students' Roll of Honour 2013 FAQs
I need an accessible version of this form. How do I get one?
Please email deanstu@tcd.ie for an accessible form, or call +353 1 896 4305.
This is my first year in Trinity College. Do my volunteering hours prior to registration count towards my 20 hours?
Sorry, but no. Only hours since you were a registered student in Trinity College Dublin count towards the 20 hours required.
My course requires me to volunteer. Does this count towards the required number of hours?
Sorry, but no. Qualifying activity hours must not be part of an academic course requirement or credit-bearing service experience.
My volunteering happened in another country. Can I use those hours as my experience?
Yes, so long as you were a registered Trinity student at the time, e.g. during the summer months between academic years.
Can I save the information on the form and return to it later?
Sorry, no. The programme doesn’t support saving and returning, so the form must be completed in one sitting. We recommend that you prepare your answers beforehand and save them in another document before you start, and refer to that as you complete the form.
I have volunteered in several organisations. Can I use more than one to make up the hours to qualify for the Roll of Honour?
Sorry, no. Though it’s good to know that you’re so involved in your community, the twenty hours must correspond to a single organisation.
I was on the Roll of Honour in 2011 and/or 2012. Can I apply again?
Yes, you can, but you must be very clear in your application about how your learning has progressed this year – we can’t acknowledge exactly the same activity twice, so we need to be clear that you’ve learned something new.
The organisation I volunteered with is overseas. How can I get my form signed?
Please contact deanstu@tcd.ie for further information on organising signed forms from overseas.
The 'Submit' button is greyed and I cannot click it. How can I submit the form?
We have noted that there is a problem with Internet Explorer, and we are working on a solution. Please use Google Chrome or Firefox to submit your form at the moment.
I can’t find the answer to my question here. What should I do now?
Please contact deanstu@tcd.ie.
