Introduction to Acting
- Course Type: Extramural
Have you ever dreamt of becoming an actor, want to hone your existing performance skills or explore your own imagination? If so, this course is for you.
The Lir’s new Introduction to Acting course is perfect for those who are both inquisitive about a future career in acting and those who simply want to challenge themselves by stretching their creative muscles. Led by some of The Lir’s core teachers, this workshop-based evening course is taught over 10 weeks. Each two and a half hour session consists of a physical warm-up followed by a voice or movement/improvisation class and culminates with a 90 minute acting workshop. The course will cover key elements of actor training including Voice, Movement and Improvisation, but will also introduce participants to classical and contemporary play texts, using both scenes and monologues to hone your craft. These workshops act as both a taste of drama school training and as a broad and basic introduction to the craft of acting. Introduction to Acting is aimed at people of all ages outside of the professional theatre industry.
No previous experience is required, although those with amateur or student acting experience would also benefit from the course.
