College Health and Sports Week Timetable

All of the activities below are FREE for Health Week only. Students & staff are welcome to take part in these activities, members or non members, and we cater for all levels of ability. Please scroll down to view an additional programme at the St James Hospital location.

Monday 25th

Launch of Health Week. GIVE IT GO WITH KARL HENRY FROM OPERATION TRANSFORMATION... There's so much to try in Trinity College and we're bringing some of the great options to Front Square. Were you the Hula Hooping champion 2002? Try the Hula Hooping station and see if you're still the snake hips you once were. When's the last time you unleashed your inner Michael Jordan? Show us what you got at the basketball hoops station. There'll be at least five stations. Come up and Give It A Go! Campanile, Front Square

4.00-5.00pm

Introductory Training Session** meet an instructor and get a tour or supervised training session.  Sports Centre Fitness Theatre
8.15-10.00pm Fencing Club Give it a Go Session. The Fencing Club are putting on a special Give it a Go session for anyone who wants to try out Fencing. All welcome, students and staff. Just come along on the day Ancillary Hall, Sports Centre

Tuesday 26th

10am-12pm Meet the Instructors. Did You Know... there’s a chance to come and have a chat our fitness instructors.  Just pop along and sit for a few minutes and ask us any health and fitness query that you have, we’ll do our best to help and advise you.  Go on, Give it a Go! Ask at reception in Sports Centre
11.30am-12.00pm TOT Walk. Social walk on Campus to re-live the magic of Trinity Operation Transformation. All welcome regardless of whether you participated in TOT or not. Staff, this a great way to use your Exercise Hour. Meet in New Square at Berkeley Library
12.00-2.00pm Spun Out. Hello Sunday Morning. John Buckley will be on campus to talk about Hello Sunday Morning for people who want to change their drinking habits. Cancelled
1.00-2.00pm Cycle Chic Fashion Show. Don't be a victim of the high visibility brigade. Cycle and look fabulous at the same time with the help of Trinity Fashion Society. Easter is the theme. €100 cheque for the best effort on the day. Remember to pimp your bike too! Front Square.

1.05-2.00 Mindfulness Session with Anne Marie Naughton. Places limited. Email TCDmindfulness@gmail.comto book.
1.15-1:45pm Zumba. Are you ready to party yourself into shape? An exhilarating, Latin-inspired, calorie burning, dance fitness party that's moving millions of people towards the joy of health New Square*

Wednesday 27th

12.10-12.50 TOT BoxFit As requested by TOTers but open to all. A great fun class that was really popular during Trinity Operation Transformation. Free like all Health Week classes and staff can use Exercise Hour to take it. Exercise Studio, Sports Centre
1:00-2:00 pm

Orienteering Club: Maze on Front Square

Front Square
1:10-1:40 pm Relaxation Class. You will be guided through deep breathing exercises and some simple relaxation techniques which will leave you feeling calm, relaxed and ready for the rest of your day. This class is aimed at beginners but all levels are welcome Sports Centre Level 3 Keiser Room
1:15-1:45 pm Pilates with Karita. Body toning with a difference! Uses controlled movements and breathing to pace the body through a series of specific local muscular endurance exercises. New Square*
6.00pm Campus 5K Run. Students can win €100 just for entering and there are two more €100 prizes for the winners. Places limited so register early Front Square. Registration information here.
7.00-10.00pm Trampolining Club Did you know, trampolining is excellent exercise that doesn't feel like exercise at all. The Trampolining Club will have people ready to make you feel welcome evevn if you've never tried it before. It's open to staff and students. Give it a Go! Main Hall, Sports Centre

Thursday 28th

8.30-9.00 am Relaxation with Karita. Early morning guided relaxation session to make you feel calm and energised for your day. Staff Development Room, House 4
9:00-10:00 am Introductory Training Session** meet an instructor and get a a tour or supervised training session.  Sports Centre Fitness Theatre
9.30-10.20am Stretching and Relaxation: Class timed for Housekeeping Staff but all welcome. Sports Centre Level 2 Exercise Studio
10:00-11:15pm Blood Pressure and Lung Age Check. Nurses from the Health Centre will check your blood pressure. If you're a smoker you might also like to have your lung age checked. It might give you just the incentive to attend one of our smoking cessation courses and stop smoking. Foyer, Dining Hall
10.00-5.00pm Rugby Sevens tournament. Come down, watch and enjoy. Rugby pitch

12.00-1.00pm Free head and neck massages Ring Sports Centre reception
1:00-2:00 pm Horse Racing without the Horses. TBC
1:05-1:50 pm Gardening with David Hackett: Practice makes perfect, a grow your own practical session In the Atrium
1.10-1.50 Managing Stress with Pam and Christine. Sports Centre, Level 2
1:15-1:45 pm Yoga Class. This class draws on the martial arts and classical dance in addition to the classical yoga texts. Through its flowing and spiralling movements it strengthens the muscular and skeletal structures of the body and prepares the individual for asanas and breath work New Square*

Notes

Most events cater for all levels of ability: please check in advance if you have any special requirements/queries.

If you have any serious medical conditions or have not exercised in over a year then seek medical clearance before participating in this programme. Wear comfortable clothing & sports footwear is recommended.

*Weather permitting. In wet weather the Sports Centre will be used;
