Project title: Surveillance Security and Transport

Project leader: Prof. Margaret O'Mahony

Research student: Orla McCarthy

Funding: European Union, Seventh Framwork Programme (FP7)

FP 7 Project: ADDPRIV (Automatic Data relevancy Discrimination for a PRIVacy-sensitive video surveillance)

Project Website: www.addpriv.eu

Summary of the project:

The ADDPRIV project involves the development and testing of video surveillance technology which will be capable of distinguishing between relevant and non-relevant video footage, from the point of view of security. This will allow a reduction in the amount of video footage retained, as the footage not relevant for security purposes will be deleted. Trinity’s research will aim to discover the impact implementation of this technology will have on both the transport organisations using it and the transport users. The research involves collaboration with several international project members from both academia and industry.
