Project Remit: Research project to investigate the measures to facilitate participation by women in senior grades of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment

Research Team: Dr. Maryann Valiulis, Jennifer Redmond and Dr. Eileen Drew

This project involves:

• a literature review of policies and best practice internationally for the promotion of women to senior grades, as well as an analysis of previous research on women in public service nationally and internationally
• a web-based questionnaire sent to all DETE employees at all grade levels
• interviews with the most senior civil servants in the DETE and with the Equality Sub-committee

The research was presented to the DETE in a final report in June 2006
