BU4522 Exploring Organisational Experience

Module Content/Outline:
This module takes an “inquiry for the inside” approach and teaches students to attend to their experience of working in an organisation and how they seek to understand and to form critical judgements about what goes on in that organisation. This module flags an advanced management competence.

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
- Attend to their cognitive processes in an organisation in which they have direct experience.
- Apply their knowing to multiple levels of analysis
- Show how they are systemically inter-related and inter-dependent in strategic change.

Assessment
Participation at seminars, 3 brief hand-ins (spread across the module), a reflective journal to be kept which will inspected several times though the year. (15%)
Two individual papers: 1 at end of Michaelmas term (20%) and at the end of Hilary term (25%)
Dates for submission for individual papers
1 at end of Michaelmas term and 1 at the end of Hilary term
Penalties for late submission
5% for each working day late, or part thereof.
Students unable to submit a term assignment for medical reasons must produce a medical certificate to the School of Business Studies office within three working days of the missed submission date. Certificates received after that time will not be accepted.
