Pension Policy Research Group
The Pension Policy Research Group is an independent, multidisciplinary research group which was set up in 2004 to carry out research on Ireland’s public and private pension systems. The Group’s primary focus is on:
- reform of the Irish pension system
- the costs and distribution of pension tax reliefs
- the effectiveness of the pension system in delivering income in retirement to older people.
Individual members of the group have a wider research agenda relating to comparative pension systems, comparisons of tax arrangements for pensions and their effects on income distribution, financial aspects of pensions, demographic modeling, universal versus targeted pension benefits, and the provision of guarantees by private pension plans.
The School contributes significantly to Trinity College's Institute for International Integration Studies (IIIS). The IIIS conducts rigorous academic research on the global and regional dimensions of international business, economic, political and cultural integration. By developing new theoretical and empirical perspectives, it seeks to improve our understanding about the many dimensions of the international integration process.
The Policy Institute is a multi-disciplinary public policy research institute based in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The Policy Institute promotes active debate and engagement between the academic and public policy communities in Ireland, and supports the analysis and development of effective policy solutions.
