School of Business celebrates 20 years of Business and a Language Degree

At the end of May the School of Business and the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Business and a Language degree.
Graduates of the degree, faculty from School of Business, faculty from School of School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies, embassy representatives, representatives from Chambers of Commerce came to the very well attended event.
Unlike many other Business and Language degrees, which treat language as a ‘bolt on’ component, this programme has, from the beginning, emphasised interdisciplinarity. The approach has been fundamental to the continuing success and reputation of BSL. Professors Pat Mc Cabe, Jim Quinn, and Claire Laudet all spoke at the reception. Thanks to all of you who have helped in the success of the programme, which has graduated around 500 students, working in all continents of the world. It is a unique achievement, and a testimony to the integration of the two disciplines in College.
