Shannon Cantwell, Class of 2012

A student of Economics and Political Science in the US, Shannon enrolled in Trinity’s Master’s of Science in International Management as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.  Completing her MSc dissertation with an international non-profit organization helped to open the door for her to work in Jacksonville, Florida for the Tim Tebow Foundation. 

'Imagine earning a Master’s degree after only one academic year of coursework, a residency week in China or another BRIC country, and writing a dissertation based on applied research!  Trinity’s engaging curriculum prompted me to enroll in the graduate programme where I have tailored my coursework to fit my future career goals in non-profit management.

TCD’s internationally acclaimed Business School attracts students not only from Ireland and other parts of Europe, but also from the US, Asia, and Africa.  Interacting with students who hail from the far reaches of the globe is only part of what makes the programme so inviting.  Taught by professors and practitioners who have experience in diverse business settings, Trinity’s modules are designed to offer students both practical knowledge and solution-oriented problem solving techniques. 

Through case studies, group presentations, lectures, class discussions and papers, I honed my skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, and written and oral communication.  The vast array of course offerings in management, marketing, finance, supply chain, accounting, economics, and professional development enables students to learn best practices in international management from a team of international experts. 

Living on Trinity’s main campus across from the library that houses the Book of Kells was a lot like living in an enchanted storybook setting.  It made participating in campus activities much simpler, getting to class a breeze, and truly was the “icing on the cake” for my Trinity experience'.     

 

Laura Eileen O’Connell, Class of 2010

Laura came to Trinity with a background in Financial Economics and The MSc International Management has since lead Laura to Singapore where she is currently based while conducting market research and business development for an Irish software company in South East Asia.

‘Engaging lectures, group presentations, case studies and assignments as well as interaction with industry specialists and personal and professional development courses have enhanced my hard and soft skills and have stood to me since joining this dynamic global business environment.

As well as having been exposed to outstanding academics, practitioners, consultants and advisers from diverse backgrounds, TCD offered state of the art sports facilities and an array of clubs and societies to join, which makes every student's “Trinity Experience” a wholesome one. The MSc. International Management has opened many doors for me and the vast range of subjects I was able to choose from allows me to specialise in many fields’.
