mscM.Sc. in Bioengineering

Do you have the ambition and drive to solve current research challenges for patients and deliver new solutions to treat  patients with health issues such as cardiovascular disease or neurodegenerative disorders?

Do you have an interest in addressing clinical needs and potentially developing new solutions to eliminate adverse events in healthcare?

If your answer is yes, then this is the Masters for you to pursue. It will open the gates to exciting and diverse career paths and opportunities.

The MSc in Bioengineering aims to provide engineers and scientists with the education and creative skills needed to practice in the medical devices industry in Ireland and focus on important clinical needs. The only course of its type in Ireland, this unique venture allows students to study at specialist Institutes of Bioengineering with academic and research expertise in Bioengineering including Trinity College Dublin, the University of Limerick, University College Dublin, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and the National College of Art and Design. Students will attend module lectures in these institutes. The most important advantage is the student's experience of studying at all Institutions and interaction with a wide range of academic and research staff whose focus is bioengineering. Furthermore, the lecturers are experts in the topic in each institution, and the laboratory facilities of all universities can be employed in practicals and laboratory exercises.

Specialisation in Neural Engineering

At Trinity College we offer a specialization in Neural engineering, the design and application of quantitative engineering approaches to understand, repair, replace, enhance, or exploit the properties of neural systems.  Trinity College is extending the state of the art in neural engineering by designing, developing and evaluating neural prostheses, neuromodulation devices, therapeutic electrical stimulation, and neurodiagnostics. Our research aims to derive a quantitative understanding of precognitive and cognitive abilities and thus build a technical basis for a quantum leap in the fields of neurorehabilitation.
