New Acquisitions

To celebrate INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY, 18 May 2015

we are delighted to announce the

NEW ARTWORK we acquired using funds from the Student and Staff Art Hire Scheme which is 55 years going this year. While we set this acquisition in motion back in November 2014, we just took delivery of it after it was printed and framed specially for the TCD Art Collections

Artist: Fionn McCann
Title: 'Rory'
Medium: Archival pigment print, 76 x 76cm

We hope you like it as much as we do. We are keen to increase photography and portraiture in the collection and we felt that this piece was wonderfully engaging in terms of its composition and concept as well as its insightful depiction of the 'Noble Call' sitter, Rory O'Neill aka Panti Bliss.

This acquisition affords the TCD Art Collections a permanent way to commemorate the action taken by our students to honour Panti In March last year, when Trinity College's European Law Students Association (ELSA) and the College Historical Society (Hist) presented Panti with an Equality Award and the Gold Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Discourse to recognise:

"... ORATORICAL SKILL AND TO HONOUR A LIFETIME OF ACTIVISM FOR LGBTQ RIGHTS ..."
