Stories of Giving

Professor Colm Ó'Moráin M.A. (j.o.) (2004)

“I think that in the present age to be competitive it is necessary for a University to be worthy of National status and it needs the philanthropy support of its alumni.  I am delighted to be able to support such endeavours and would encourage others to do so as it will reflect not only on Trinity College but on the Irish public at large”.

Anna Noble B.Sc., M.A. (2001)

“My interest in all of Trinity College's libraries, especially the Long Room, is due to the fact that I visited as many of them as often as I could during my four year stay in Trinity and I believe that I reaped the benefits of that experience as a result. It is also due to my love of all things 'old', be it books, buildings, the arts, or music.  All these years later I wanted to do my bit to keep them there for another 400 years. I wanted to give something back so that they would still be in existence for the next generation one of whom is my nephew Darragh Noble who is reading Engineering in TCD”.

Susannah McAleese M.A. (2000)

“I feel very privileged to have attended TCD as an undergraduate, where I studied Business and Economics.  Giving back now is my way of thanking College for giving me such a brilliant life experience, and for helping to open doors in my both my personal and professional life. When I first interviewed at Bank of America in London, I remember that every interviewer knew TCD and knew of its excellent reputation.  Throughout my career, whether meeting clients, or new colleagues, the TCD stamp impresses. I also made some wonderful friends at College, through my academic courses, as well as through playing sports. Many of us are still in touch, and we have a great network going in London”.

Tim Cody B.A.I (1992)

“The Trinity Golf Classic is a fantastic opportunity to support the College and re-connect with alumni. We are very enthusiastic about the College’s ambition for Ireland and we are very excited about the strategic role the College will play in society and business in the challenging years ahead, we are delighted to be able to help the College through the Trinity Golf Classic”.

Helen Butler B.A. (2004)

“My reasons for donating to the Annual Fund are borne out of my interest in the area of conservation. I am currently pursuing further study in this area after studying ancient history and archaeology at Trinity. The library is a resource of immeasurable value and its preservation is of major cultural significance. Another reason I am happy to donate to the fund is my gratitude to the University for the great experience I had there as an undergraduate. The education I received at Trinity is invaluable and I am delighted to be able to give a little bit back”.

Karl Foster B.A. (2003)

“The Treasures of the Long Room are a very special part of what Trinity College stands for and is. It has been a privilege of mine to play a small practical part in the active preservation of this unique and invaluable treasure, so that future generations of scholars may continue to enjoy it”.
