Welcome
The Department of Zoology forms part of the School of Natural Sciences. We operate a Transition Year Programme to introduce secondary school students to the exciting world of scientific research and teaching in our Department. During your week with us you will get to meet our staff, students and post-graduates in a friendly and structured week of laboratory and related activities. All you need is an interest in science and a willingness to learn. We will do the rest!What is Zoology?
Zoology is the scientific study of the animal kingdom, along with its evolution, diversity and environment. This involves building knowledge of both the structure of different kinds of animals and how they function, and the complex relationships that govern how animals relate to each other and their surroundings. Zoology provides fundamental information on three areas of our society: the environment, food production and human health.Our Research:
