Ian Mathews, Treasurer
Ian Mathews became Treasurer in 2009 having held a number of senior positions in the Treasurer’s Office during his 16 years in Trinity College. Ian is a statutory officer of the College and a key member of the College’s senior management team, contributing at the highest levels of the College’s leadership structure. He is accountable to the Board and Provost for all aspects of the direction and management of the College’s financial affairs.
As Treasurer, Ian is charged with providing a robust financial foundation on which to construct and successfully deliver ambitious academic and corporate objectives through the development, articulation, communication and review of financial strategies. Key tasks include: reporting the financial position and performance of the College; evaluating and advising on the financial implications of proposals and plans; developing alternative financial strategies to support policy decisions; advising in regard to the financing of capital developments.
Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Diploma in Professional Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Janet Byrne, Financial Resources Manager
Janet was appointed as Financial Resources Manager in the Treasurer’s Office in 2003 having previously held the position of Financial Controller in Interactive Services Limited before joining Trinity College. As a member of the senior financial management team tasked with achieving the College’s strategic objectives, Janet is principally responsible for the management of General Ledger, Financial Reporting, College Estimates, Resource Planning Model and the Faculty Financial Advisors. Janet qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in Dublin and holds a B.A. in Accounting and Finance, an MBS in Accounting, a Graduate Certificate in Corporate Treasury and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Paul Coote, Financial Planning Manager
Paul was appointed as Financial Planning Manager in the Treasurer’s Office in 2008, having previously held the position of Head of Finance in JCDecaux Ireland before joining Trinity College. As a member of the senior financial management team tasked with achieving the College’s strategic objectives, Paul is principally responsible for the management of Student Fees, Capital Projects, Treasury Management, Risk and the College Full Economic Cost Project. Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Diploma in Professional Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Áine Mulcahy, Finance Operations Manager
Áine was appointed as Finance Operations Manager in the Treasurer’s Office in 2006, having held the role of Financial Accountant upon joining Trinity College in 2004. Prior to joining the College, Áine was the Finance Director for Usit Ireland. As a member of the senior financial management team tasked with achieving the College’s strategic objectives, Áine is principally responsible for the management of College Procurement, Accounts Payable, Taxation, Accounts Receivable and Payroll. Áine qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Masters of Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Deirdre Savage, Research Accounting Manager
Deirdre Savage was appointed as Research Accounting Manager in 1999 having held a number of key positions in the Treasurer’s Office during her career in Trinity College. As a member of the senior financial management team tasked with achieving the College’s strategic objectives, Deirdre is principally responsible for the management of Research Administration, Management Information Systems (internally), Service Liaison, Communication (internally and externally) and the Treasurer’s Administrative Support team. Deirdre qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1997 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
