Student Contribution 2012/13
Undergraduate Students
As a result of measures contained in the budget of 5th and 6th December 2011,
the Department of Education and Skills has increased the student contribution
to €2,250 for the 2012/2013 academic year onwards.
All students eligible for the Government tuition fee remission scheme (free tuition fees) will be liable for the student contribution of €2,250. In addition, all students are also obliged to pay a mandatory sports centre charge of €77 and USI membership fee of €8 totalling €2,335.
Students not eligible for the free tuition fees must pay their tuition
fee, student contribution of €2,250, mandatory sports centre charge
of €77 and USI membership fee of €8.
Those students eligible and approved for a local authority grant will have their student contribution paid on their behalf by their local authority however they are still required to pay the mandatory sports centre charge of €77 and USI membership fee of €8.
Tax relief on Student Contribution
Families with two or more children liable for the new student contribution will qualify for tax relief on payments arising from second and subsequent sibling liability.
