Deirdre Flynn

Deirdre Flynn is the Director of the Student Counselling Service and has been working in the Service since 1993. Deirdre is a registered Psychotherapist and she is actively involved with the Student Counsellors Heads Forum in Ireland and the U.K. She has served on the board of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) and the Irish Constructivist Psychotherapy Association (ICPA.)

Deirdre has worked in a variety of settings and roles both here and abroad, including disability, youth work, social work and lecturing.

As Director of the Service Deirdre is responsible for developing and ensuring the provision of professional services for students which are relevant and responsive to their needs. She and her team of (counsellors, learning support, S2S and admin staff) are committed to the principles of inclusivity and diversity, and to the enhancement of the student experience in partnership with all students.

Dermot Coonan

Dermot joined the Counselling team on a part-time basis in December 2005. Since he completed a Master of Counsellling Psychology degree at TCD in 2000, he has worked as a counsellor at IT Carlow and Kildare Youth Services.

Professional interests include working with trauma, mind body work and working with resilience factors.

Joanna Harney

Joanna received her undergraduate B.A. in Psychology from UCD in 2002 and graduated in 2009 with an MSc in Counselling Psychology.

Joanna works with a wide range of issues. She uses an integrative mode of therapy which aims to enhance a solution focused approach.

Angie McLaughlin

Angie McLaughlin is Licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist (California). She completed her undergraduate degree in TCD in Psychology and holds a Masters in Marriage, Family and Child Counselling from San Francisco State University. She is registered as a Family Therapist in Ireland, is a member of PSI and CAMFT.

She worked for 9 years in Community Mental Health agencies in San Francisco providing individual and group therapy to people with severe psychiatric disorders. On returning to Ireland she was Head of Therapy for CARI, an organisation who offers counselling to children and their families affected by Child Sexual Abuse.

Her areas of interest are mind/body therapy, group work and working with multi-cultural issues and marginalised populations.

Angie is a registered psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Orla McLoughlin

Orla joined the Student Counselling Service as a part-time staff member in 2007 and she works as a telephone counsellor for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Orla received her undergraduate psychology degree in 2002 and graduated with a MSc in Counselling Psychology from TCD.

Orla enjoys working with a wide range of issues, and her special interests include self-esteem and strengths-based approaches to counselling.

Annemarie Naughton

Annemarie has been working in the Counselling Service since early 2002. She is responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of clinical services.

Annemarie graduated from Trinity and worked as a social worker in the Mental Health services in both Dublin and the West of Ireland. She has a Masters degree in Psychotherapy and is a registered Psychotherapist and Supervisor with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy and the European Association for Psychotherapy.

Annemarie enjoys working with a broad range of issues with students of all ages.Her special interests are Systemic therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Chuck Rashleigh

Chuck has been working in the Counselling Service since 2003.
Chuck received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Bowling Green, Ohio in 1993 and worked in mental health, and youth & young adult outreach programmes before completing a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology degree from Trinity College Dublin.

Chuck uses an integrative approach to counselling, and he has special interests in acculturative stress for international students and measuring therapeutic outcomes.

Chuck is a registered psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Yvonne Tone

Yvonne is a recent member of the Counselling Service who joined in February 2007. She has worked psycho-therapeutically as a Congnitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in a mental health setting in Dublin for many years.

Her professional background is nursing having completed bother General and Psychiatric nurse training. She completed a Diploma course in Behaviour Therapy at St Patrick’s Hospital, Dublin and subsequently obtained an MSc in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from Trinity College.

Her main approach to counselling is through a cognitive behavioural framework and she likes working with anxiety related disorders, depression and low self esteem. She has an interest in training and supervision in CBT and is involved with the Diploma Course in CBT presently offered through Trinity College. She enjoys working eclectically with the broad range of problems, the challenge of College life presents for students.

Tamara O'Connor Maeve Gallagher

Tamara O'Connor

Area of Responsibility: Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.

Tamara has worked with the Student Counselling Service since 1995.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also has a Masters in Education from Trinity College and a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of East London.

She uses her knowledge and experience of psychological and educational principles to help students improve the way they study and learn. She has worked with students across a wide range of ages and abilities as well as in a variety of educational and business settings.

Tamara has a special interest in positive psychology and the role of emotions in learning. She loves to read, travel, ski, hike and drink wine.

Maeve Gallagher

Maeve is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with experience as a researcher (University of Brighton) and careers advisor (Dublin City University). She has also worked in human resource management consulting and training. More recently she has worked on a project concerned with improving access to education and employment for marginalised groups. Maeve has a BA in Psychology from University College Dublin and MSc in Occupational Pscychology from Queen's University, Belfast.

Rosalind Agnew

Ros was appointed as Administration Officer in the Counselling Service in 2006.

She holds an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ulster. Ros is also a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

Before joining the Counselling Service Ros worked in financial services for Hibernian Group Plc. for 9 Years. Previous to that Ros worked for the public sector in Northern Ireland and has also travelled and worked in the USA for 4 years.

Pauline Coary

Pauline joined the Student Counselling Service in 1998. Prior to joining Trinity College Pauline worked in the private sector. She has travelled and worked in France, Australia and the USA.

Geraldine O'Connor

Geraldine has been working in Student Counselling on a part-time basis since 2005.

Geraldine received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Politics from University College, Dublin. She previously worked in the banking sector.

Geraldine is personal assistant to the Director of the Student Counselling Service, Deirdre Flynn.
