Peter clare

Peter is a graduate of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology Course in TCD. He has experience working within adult mental health settings in Aquired Brain Injury and Psycho-oncology. He also has experience working with adolescences, and children with autism spectrum disorders. Peter spent his undergraduate years studying Drama & Classical Civilisation in TCD. He then converted to Psychology via the Higher Diploma Course, also in Trinity. Peter is an integrative counselling psychologist who's theoretical orientation is empirically grounded in the integration of psychodynamic, humanistic and existential psychotherapies under a common factors approach. This approach emphasises the importance of the therapeutic relationship, helping style of the therapist, and the role of empathy in eliciting psychological change.

Peter has also experience and training in CBT, DBT and EFT and believes that therapies need to be tailored for the clients' needs on an individual basis.

His research interests are directed towards the role that drama and creativity can play in therapy; and the experiences, outcomes, and the helpful/unhelpful aspects of therapy as reported by clients who've undergone Emotion Focused Therapy for Generalised Anxiety Disorder."

Peter’s preferred pronouns are He and His.
