Gym reconfiguration to start next month

Published: 21st April 2017

As participation in sport and physical activity has increased, so has the demand on space in the Sports Centre, which recently celebrated its 10 anniversary. Last year the number of visitors through the centre was 368,000, a seven per cent increase on the previous year, so what better time to announce the next phase of planned building enhancements.

The reconfiguration, which is scheduled to take place between the end of May and July 2017, includes a remodelling of the entire ground floor entrance lobby, reception, and the layout of the gym area, and will result in an increase in capacity and improved customer experience.

In addition to this, a new group and personal training space will be developed on the first floor to cater for the growing demand on classes and programmes.

The project is part of planned facility upgrades laid out in the current strategy for sport ‘Raising our Game', and have been developed in consultation with various customer user groups. Further details about the project will be posted on the ‘latest news’ section of our website over the coming weeks.
