Sports Centre building works - final update

Published: 21st August 2017

The Sports Centre gym reconfiguration project is now complete and we’d like to thank all our members for their support, and especially their patience, during these works, which commenced in May.

On the ground floor there is a new reception, a revamped gym with a bigger free weights area and a new functional training rig.

A new fitness studio is located on the first floor of the Sports Centre (turn right through the doors, rather than left for Ancillary Hall). Keep an eye out on our website for details of classes and courses taking place here shortly.

Throughout the project the student sports forum was actively consulted and kept up to date on developments. Mechanical engineering student Tiarnan O’Kelly was part of the forum.

“The gym we've ended up with at the end of this renovation is the best possible scenario we could have hoped for,” Tiarnan commented. “Not only have they increased the gym’s capacity, it's been given a much needed spruce up. Both of these facts will draw more attention to the gym and hopefully result in a much higher customer satisfaction.”
