‘Plenty of reasons to celebrate’

Trinity’s rowing teams put in some strong performances to finish the season on a high at the Irish Rowing Championships at the weekend
The rowing season may finally be over, following the Irish Rowing Championships at the weekend, but what a climax it’s been for some of Trinity’s teams. Inniscarra, Co Cork, was the venue for the Championships, which this year attracted an unprecedented entry of 917 crews to race over the three days.
While the seniors from DUBC didn’t fare as well as they would have liked, it was a completely different story for the Novice 8s, who stormed home to win the novice championship, having been unbeaten all season. The Novice 8s also competed in the Club 8, coming second to UCD. All in all a good weekend for the lads.
DULBC Novice 8s also put in a very strong performance to win their race. Well done ladies – you are now the fastest Novice 8s in the country! Overall the women probably fared better that the lads over the course of the three days, with the intermediate 8, Senior 8, Senior 4 and Senior Pair all claiming third spot in their respective races.
All that’s left to say is well done to all our rowers who can now look forward to a well-deserved break before the new season starts in September.
