Camogie Scholar’s Winning Ways Continue

Published: 7th June 2016

It’s been a good year for Trinity sports scholar Aisling Maher. Back in February Aisling and her Trinity teammates lifted the Fr Meachair Cup for winning their division. Now the Dubliner has just been announced as one of eight WGPA players to be awarded a bursary from ICON, the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.

The bursaries, given out in conjunction with the WGPA each year, are intended to support players who are studying in the field of life sciences – Aisling has just completed her senior freshman year in medicinal chemistry.

This isn’t the only recent award for Aisling. Last month she earned a place on the first ever CCAO Third Level Camogie All-Stars, which were announced at an event in Athlone’s Hudson Bay Hotel.

The player is currently based in Chicago on a J1 where she hopes to continue playing through the summer months with local side St Mary’s. Then it’s back for training with her club St Vincent’s in August before the resumption of the college sporting calendar in September.
