Michelle Tanner - Head of Sport,(BSc, MBA Sport Management)
A former player with the Irish Women's Volleyball team, Michelle has been involved in the Irish sporting industry since graduating in 1992. She has worked in many facilities including ALSAA, ESB Sportsco and DCU. She joined Trinity in 1997 and has been involved in all aspects of sport in College. Michelle is currently the Honorary Treasurer of the Colleges & Universities Sports Association of Ireland (CUSAI).
Cathy Gallagher - Sports Development Manager, (BSc, MSc Finance)
Cathy has been involved in third level sport since ‘learning the trade’ as an active member of 3 clubs during her studies at Queen’s University Belfast. She worked for the Colleges & Universities Sports Association of Ireland and took up post with Queen’s Sport from 2003 - 2008 as Development Manager. Following a period of time in the world of Sports Consultancy, where she specialised in Business Case Appraisals for sports facility developments, she worked in DCU before joining ‘Team Trinity’ in March 2011.
Cathy has a keen interest in all sports and played gaelic football to County level as well as gaining 3 College All Stars. Her sporting highlight was receiving the coveted ‘Sports Achievement Award’ in Queen’s University Belfast...followed closely by Tyrone’s 3 All Ireland wins to date.
Eamon Cusack - Marketing & Member Services Officer
Eamon joined the sports team in March 2007 having been involved in the fitness industry for over 10 years. Eamon started out in fitness instruction in 1999 before progressing to duty manager and moving onto sales & marketing. A highly motivated member of the team and enthusiastic sportsperson, Eamon stays active by playing soccer competitively as well as badminton and GAA football. Drinda Jones - Administrative Officer - Department of Sport/DUCAC,(B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc)
Drinda has been working in College for over 10 years with experience in a broad range of departments, from the Director of Buildings’ Office, the Quality Office and now with Department of Sport and DUCAC. She is largely involved with the management of sport clubs and their growth, along with facility and service projects and sport scholarships.
Lucinda Gavigan - Senior Executive Officer, (BBS (Hons) Languages & Marketing, Grad Dip Mgt)
Lucinda is an Executive Officer in the Sports Centre since late 2004. Lucinda is responsible for the administration of the Sports Scholarship Scheme, the ezine newsletter, the Sports Department website and Departmental accounts among other areas. Lucinda is a keen sports follower and leads an active lifestyle.
Gillian O'Grady - Sports Programme Manager - (BBS (Hons) Marketing Management)
Gillian has been in Trinity Sport since 2003. A former fitness instructor in the Luce Sports Centre, Gillian made the transition to Executive Officer in September 2006. She is responsible for memberships, sports event bookings, reporting, student sports clubs training schedules, corporate group bookings, management of the sports centre’s leisure software system and all general enquiries. Gillian plays basketball with her local Sandyford Club, Meteors and is a big fan of sport especially the Dublin Senior Football Team.
Kay Cullen - Receptionist
Kay is most likely the first of many warm & welcoming faces that you will see when you first enter the Sports Centre. She has worked in the Department of Sport since June 1998 and is now our Senior Receptionist. Kay is always happy to deal with any queries you might have at the reception area.
Caroline Duggan - Receptionist
Caroline joined the team in April 2012 and has over 15 years of experience in the sports industry. A graduate of UCD with a BA and a MSc in Sports & Exercise Management, Caroline was employed in the sports facilities in UCD for almost 10 years, with a brief break to work in coaching and games development for the GAA. Caroline is deeply involved in the GAA as both a tutor and coach, having coached the Na Fianna, TCD, UCD and Dublin camogie teams along with the Na Fianna Senior Ladies Football team.
Helen Murray - Executive Officer
Helen joined the Sports Team in August 2009 as Receptionist and has an abundance of experience in the fitness industry having worked as Gym Instructor, Lifeguard, Aerobic's instructor and most recently as a Duty Manager in some of the most recognised centres in Ireland. Helen attained her qualifications in 2000 having studied for two years in Sport & Leisure management at Colaiste Ide. Helen continues to develop her knowledge in the industry and most recently received her ACSM personal training certificate.
Sorcha Stapleton - Duty Manager
Sorcha has worked in Trinity Sport since 2002 and progressed to Duty Manger level in 2007. Sorcha is passionate about Health & Fitness and loves to continually add to her knowledge base ensuring that the best quality service is given. She is responsible for the exciting Exercise Class programme, which comes highly recommended.
Jonathan Fitzpatrick - Duty Manager
Jonathan has been involved in the Leisure industry for over 10 years now and has worked in a number of leisure facilities including DCU and the National Aquatic Centre. Jonathan's main area of expertise is the pool area and particularly pool plant operations and prides himself on the quality of our pool water. When Jonathan's not working he spends his time outdoors climbing, kitesurfing or cycling.
Peter Boland - Duty Manager
Peter has worked in Trinity Sport since 1997 and progressed to Duty Manger level in 2007. A dedicated member on the gym team, Peter's main interest is in Movement Assessment, Functional Screening, Olympic Weight Training, Fitness Testing, Speed Development and is also an avid gym user himself. Any information on sports related training feel free to ask him for advice!
Alan Campbell - Duty Manager
Alan joined the Sports Centre team in September 2008. With many years experience in the Leisure & fitness industry, Alan has acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Alan's main area of expertise are the Swimming pool & pool plant operations and is a sports enthusiast with a keen interest in soccer, GAA, triathlon, golf and badminton.
Mark Mc Gauran - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
With over ten years experience in the leisure industry, Mark can design a programme to help you achieve your goals. He believes a more holistic approach to diet and exercise is of benefit in our modern society. Mark is currently strength coach/nutritionist to the Wexford senior football team. He derives equal enjoyment from working with sports people to prescribing tailor made exercise programmes for the recreational user also.
John O'Connor - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
Following on from completing the National qualification in Exercise, Health Studies in the National Training Centre, John joined the TCD Sports Team in November 2010. John is highly motivated seeing his beginner - advanced clients achieve their training goals. A former GAA footballer with St. Oliver Plunkets, John is an avid Dublin fan. You will find John teaching a highly popular studio cycle class on a regular basis.
Orla O'Brien - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
Orla has over ten years experience in the fitness industry and joined the TCD Sports team in 2004. Orla's main interest is her exercise classes which range from aerobics to spinning and she has completed a course in sports massage. Orla drives her clients to achieve their desired fitness goals in the Fitness Theatre.
Margaret Henderson - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
Margaret joined the Sports Centre in August 2010 and has over 7 years experience working within the health and fitness Industry. She is a qualified aerobics Instructor, personal trainer and Holistic Nutritionist. She is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Margaret believes in making exercise and classes fun and exciting, as well as varied and energetic.
Jesus Perez - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
Jesus joined the team in August 2010. A keen swimmer himself, Jesus can be found on the pool deck regularly passing down his excellent knowledge and experience to beginner - advanced swimmers. Jesus also enjoys prescribing tailor made training programmes in the fitness theatre to suit the needs, goals and characteristics of each individual in order to improve their fitness and quality of life working individually with each person enhancing their motivation, physique and health.
Niamh Rudden - Fitness Instructor/Pool Attendant
Niamh joined the TCD Sports team 2007 and enjoys teaching a range of different classes especially power pump where you will find her offering a challenging routine. Niamh has recently completed a Holistic Dietetics and Nutrition Course through IHCA. Her encouraging and enthusiastic personality will help you to achieve the results and goals you are looking for, whether through a healthy eating regime or through your training
