25214|Call for nomination: The Holberg International Memorial Prize 2014 |The Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund invites nominations for the Holberg International Memorial Prize for outstanding scholarly work in the academic fields of the arts and humanities, social science, law and theology.
The Prize, which was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2003, is awarded annually by the Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund. The Prize for 2014 amounts to 4.5 million NOK (approximately 610 000 EUR / 790 000 USD *).
The winner of the 2014 Holberg International Memorial Prize will be announced in February 2014, and the award ceremony will take place in Bergen, Norway in June 2014.
The prize is awarded to scholars who have made outstanding contributions to research in the arts and humanities, social science, law or theology, either within these fields or through interdisciplinary work. The prizewinner must have had a decisive influence on international research.
The Board of the Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund awards the prize at the recommendation of the Holberg Prize Academic Committee. The function of the nomination is to make the Committee aware of the candidates work.
Scholars holding positions at universities and other research institutions, including academies, are entitled to nominate candidates to the Prize. The letter of nomination should be written in English and state the reason for the nomination in 2 to 3 pages. The nomination should also include the candidates CV and suggest referees who know the scholars work. If the included files are exceeding 50 MB, please contact the Secretariat.
The Committee particularly encourages nomination of established scholars below the age of seventy. Joint nominations do not strengthen a candidacy.
Nominations are strictly confidential. They should not be disclosed to the nominee or to others at any time.
Deadline for nomination is June 15 2013.

Nice Spanish family are looking for an au pair for the summer 2013.
The family lives in Madrid, they spend their summers in Cercedilla, a little mountain village in the autonomous region of Madrid. Village is situated about 55 km from the city of Madrid. Madrid is easily accessible by buses and trains. During the summer there are a lot of people living in Cercedilla travelling to work to Madrid daily. Cercedilla and its surroundings is a mountainous place, perfect for outdoor sports and activities and it would be easy for an au pair to find young people and make friends either through English or Spanish.
Family lives in a house with garden, swimming pool and carrousels. They live in a closed neighbourhood with people of all ages.
Two boys an au pair will be expected to look after are Javier aged 12 and Sergio aged 7. Both of them go to English school in Spain where they speak English most of the time. Both children have been living with au pairs for most of their lives but Yolanda (mother) wants them to improve their grammar as well as spoken English.
Au pair will have his/her own bedroom. The bathrooms will be shared between the members of the family and an au pair.
Family requires au pair for the months of July and August but they would be open to a possibility for an au pair to stay longer if everything goes smoothly. One of the previous au pairs had lived with the family for a year. They would prefer a boy au pair but would gladly accept a girl who is active and would be up for playing with the boys. Yolandas family loves physical activities and various sports and an active au pair would surely enjoy living with them. They are looking for someone aged 19 upwards. During the summer parents require an au pair to stay with the kids from 10:30 (when they have breakfast) until around 19:30 (when parents return from work). Friday evenings and weekends would be au pairs time off. Parents do not require an au pair to babysit either evenings or weekends.
The actual responsibilities involve taking care of the children, preparing breakfast and lunch (no cooking involved) and laundry. There is a cleaner, who cleans the house, thus an au pair will not be expected to clean anything apart from his/her own bedroom. Parents would ask an au pair to be tidy and help them with the children and to feel as a member of the family. Parents would consider providing extra paid work (gardening or painting) if the au pair would like to earn some extra money.
An au pair would be asked to speak English to the kids all the time and parents could speak either English or Spanish to an au pair, depending on his/her preferences. They are also willing to help au pair with his/her Spanish, if help is needed.
At the beginning the pay rate would be 60 euro a week. However, if the au pair is really helpful and well organised, family would pay extra.
They do not pay for flights, after a bad experience with one of their previous au pairs.
Family would pick an au pair up in the airport and would also drop him/her off. It is the experiences both the children as well as parents enjoy.
Family could put an interested person in touch with their last au pair. Alternatively, those interested could contact me as I know the family personally and could provide some background information.
Family is very physically active, parents run marathons, compete in triathlons and both them as well as the children enjoy riding a bicycle in mountains. It would be very easy and a lot of fund to live with them as their 10 years experience living with au pairs has shown.

26145|Participants needed for Graphics experiments|We are looking for a couple of additional participants to finish our current experiments started in January and also carried out last week. For the end of this experiment, we are currently looking for approximately 6 European volunteers between 18 and 30, who did not take part in our experiments so far.
The experiments involve two 40min sessions separated by a break (at least 15min, but the second session can also be ran the following day if necessary).
In the first session you will view movie clips depicting a virtual character walking, jogging or dancing, and you will be asked to rate some features of the motion.
In the second session, you will view movie clips depicting two characters (one walking and one dancing), and you will be asked to determine if the characters are depicting motions from the same actors.
Duration: roughly twice 40 minutes, with at least 15 min break.
Location: Room 0.19 of the Lloyd Building
Reward: As a token of our appreciation, you will receive a 15 Book Voucher
We will be running these experiment this week until we have enough participants. Please send me an email to arrange a time if you are interested in participating.

We are looking for an au pair (ideally 18 to 22) to take the continuity of the current au pair who is returning to Ireland end of August.
We would like to share our life with a very enthusiastic, positive, caring and responsible person to help us take care of our children and someone who would enjoy experiencing the French culture.
This person has to love being with children, entertaining and taking care of them. We have 2 kids (7 year old daughter and 5 year old son). They are both going to school. Julien (38 years old) and I (Chrystel 38 years old) are both working and practicing sports. We enjoy going to the countryside and meeting our friends.
What do we expect from our au pair?
We are looking for someone who would start beg. of September 2013, for a full year (or at least until end of July).
For the sake of the children, we need stability and hence it is important to commit to this duration...
There is no need for a driving license as we live near to a metro station in Paris.
Our au pair would have her own room with a balcony (sharing bathroom with the kids), her major tasks being to take care of the children in the morning to get them ready for school and after school (4.30pm) + some baby-sittings and help the family with daily usual tasks. She would work 30h / week with no work on Sundays.
She would also go on holidays with us which could be by the sea, in the country side or in the Alps.
We both speak fluently English and expect her to speak it with our children. We therefore expect her English language skills to be of a very good level.
