Science(TR071) Module Choice & Registration Procedure

Students entering Science must attend the orientation and module registration session on Monday 18th September before they complete College registration. Please check your orientation timetable below for the time of your module enrolment session.

N.B. Students that have not taken Chemistry for the Leaving Certificate are advised to attend the Optional Preliminary Chemistry Course.


Science (TR071) Orientation - Monday 18th September 2017

The following presentations will take place in the MacNeil Theatre:
10:00 - 10:20          Prof Kevin Mitchell, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Science Education (ADUSE)
10:20 - 10:27          Prof John Rochford, Biology
10:27 - 10:34          Prof Pete Coxon, Geography
10:34 - 10:41          Prof Chris Nicholas, Geology
10:41 - 10:48          Prof Vladimir Dotsenko, Mathematics
10:48 - 10:55          Prof Cormac McGuinness, Physics
10:55 - 11:02          Prof Sylvia Draper, Chemistry

Students should return to the Hamilton atrium where they will meet with an academic to advise on module choices. 

These sessions will be held as follows:

Students with surnames beginning A-M -11:00am to 12:30pm;
Students with surnames beginning N-Z  -  2:00pm  to 3:30pm.

At the module registration session, students will be provided with:

  • The Junior Freshman Programme 2017/18 (first year);
  • A module choice form to complete, following advice from an academic adviser.

On completion of the module registration, students can register for College online.

Optional Preliminary Chemistry Course

This course is designed to help students who have a weak background in Chemistry. It is recommended only for those who have attained ordinary level or less than grade C in higher level Leaving Certificate Chemistry. Any student who has not studied chemistry before should make a serious effort to attend. The course is available to all students who accept an offer of a place in Trinity College and are intending to study chemistry in the First Year.
