Donnellan Lectures
Given under the auspices of the School of Hebrew, Biblical and Theological Studies in 1794, and endowed from the estate of Anne Donnellan, the Donnellan Lectures have, since 1987, been run in conjunction with the Department of Philosophy. The Donnellan Lectures have been given by such eminent scholars as John Collins, Yale University on the New Testament, by the philosopher Paul Ricoeur on the theme of "Memory and Forgiveness" and by Felix Wilfred from the University of Madras on "Religions Face to Face with Globalisation." For 2008 the Donnellan Lecture series will be given by the philosopher Robert R. Pippin of the University of Chicago. Prof. Margaret M. Mitchell
Margaret M. Mitchell is Professor of New Testament and Early Christian Literature in the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. Her publications on New Testament and early Christian writings in their relationship to the wider Greco-Roman world include Paul and the Rhetoric of Reconciliation: An Exegetical Investigation of the Language and Composition of 1 Corinthians; The Heavenly Trumpet: John Chrysostom and the Art of Pauline Interpretation; Co-editor of Antiquity and Humanity: Essays on Ancient Religion and Philosophy (FS H.D. Betz) and of The Cambridge History of Christianity, Volume 1 (Origins to Constantine) (in press).

- 6 March 2008: Professor David Thomas, Professor of Christianity and Islam, University of Birmingham: "Islamic Monotheism in a World of Many Monotheisms"

Fee:
The cost of the full series is €90; of individual lectures, €12; for school pupils, unemployed persons and pensioners with social welfare cards, half price; for staff and students of Trinity College Dublin, free.
Registration:
Applications can be made in person at the first lecture, or by post to Ms. Jane Welch, School of Religions & Theology, Arts Building, Trinity College, Dublin 2, before 11 January 2008. Payment must acompany applications. Cheques can be made payable to 'Trinity College no.1 account'.

The lectures will be held on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm, beginning on 17 January, 2008, in the Emmet Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College, Dublin 2.
