- Prof Michael Marsh elected to RIA
On 27 May Professor Michael Marsh was inducted as a member of the Royal Irish Academy, having been elected as one of 22 new members admitted in 2016 in recognition of his outstanding research.
- Dr Michelle D'Arcy presented with Provost's Teaching Award
On 25 May Dr Michelle D'Arcy was one of three lecturers across the whole of College presented with a Provost's Teaching Award in recognition of her outstanding teaching and her dedication to her students both as a teacher and a mentor.
- Ronald J Hill Prize Awarded
The Department congratulates Christopher McMahon (Law and Political Science). Christopher is the inaugural winner of the Ronald J Hill prize awarded annually for performance in Schol in honour of Professor Ron Hill, a distinguished member of the department from 1969 to 2007.
- 2016 Trinity Scholars
The Department congratulates the four undergraduate students of Political Science elected as Scholars on 11 April 2016: Samuel Michael Browne (History and Political Science), Sophie Donnelly (PPES), Anna Katariina Kylkilahti (BESS) and Christopher McMahon (Law and Political Science). Christopher McMahon is the inaugural winner of the Ronald J Hill prize awarded annually for performance in Schol in honour of Professor Ron Hill, a distinguished member of the department from 1969 to 2007.
- Prof. Raj Chari testifies before Scottish Parliamentary Committee
Professor Raj Chari, appearing as an expert witness before the Scottish Standards, Procedures & Public Appointments Committee, evaluated the draft Scottish Lobbying Regulation Bill, identifying its strengths and highlighting remaining room for improvement (see from 55.50 in the linked video).
- Dr Constantine Boussalis Wins GPSG Prize
1st prize was awarded to Dr Constantine Boussalis (Trinity College Dublin) and Dr Travis Coan (University of Exeter) for their paper entitled “Tracing the Narrative of Hate in the Rising Greek Far-Right”, which offers a ground-breaking model for the analysis of party policies.
