PY5021 - Magnetic Sensors
Students will become familiar with the basic concepts in condensed matter physics, electromagnetism and materials science on which magnetic sensors depend. The significance of sensors, and thire wide range of critical applications will be understood.
The practical component of the course will allow students to understand how the devices are built, and may suggest new practical applications. Numerial fluency with the physical magnitudes involved in magnetism and noise will be developed, facilitated by the consistent use of SI units, and many numerial examples.
