Postgraduate Opportunities in the School of Physics

Links to the PhD and MSc projects currently available in the School of Physics are given below. If one of these projects interests you, get in touch to the project leader, providing the necessary information needed for an initial contact. In particular indicate your degree, your final or expected mark, your previous research experience if any, why you are interested in the project, and why you believe you are a suitable candidate.

It is important to note that not all projects are fully funded. Some projects are associated with grants, perhaps from SFI or the EU, which pay a student’s fees and a stipend. Others do not and rely on the student obtaining their own funding.

PRTLI5 Projects

Currently, some projects are funded under Cycle 5 of the Irish Government's Programme for Research in Third-Level Insitutions (PRTLI5). These projects are available to EU citizens only. More information on applying for PRTLI5 funded projects is available here.

Funded Projects

Unfunded Projects (suitable for Scholarship holders)

Click here for details of projects which do not have associated funding for tuition fees or stipend. These projects are suitable for students who have received national or international scholarships paying fees and stipend. An example of such a scholarship program is the Irish Government IRCSET postgraduate scholarship program.
