Science Foundation Ireland Technology Innovation Development Award (TIDA) 2011

Saturday 01 January 2011: New TIDA Project Starts

On Saturday 01 Jan 2011 the Applied Physics Research Group commenced its SFI funded TIDA project, entitled "Novel quaternary transparent p-type conducting oxides".

The project will investigate the feasibility of producing high quality films of novel quaternary p-type transparent conducting oxides (TCO) for industrial applications. The applicant recently synthesised and filed a patent for a novel p-type TCO. The material shows comparable performance as other known best performing p-type TCOs despite the currently poor film quality due to fundamental limitations of the growth technique (spray pyrolysis). By implementing more sophisticated deposition techniques we will be in a position to deliver p-type TCO coated glass samples to potential beta customers and hence generate crucial information on the commercial potential of the new mate-rial.
