Slán Trinity!

After about 4.5 years in Ireland we are moving to Switzerland to join the Materials Theory Group at ETH Zurich. Thanks to everyone who supported us (in particular our sponsor Science Foundation Ireland) and to all our friends and collaborators.

The Computational Materials Theory Group, located within the School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin and led by Dr. Claude Ederer, was established in October 2007 funded through a President of Ireland Young Researcher Award of the Science Foundation Ireland. Our research explores the interplay between structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of functional materials using computational methods. The corresponding effects and materials are of great interest for basic science and in addition have the potential to trigger new technological developments. By elucidating the physical mechanisms behind potentially useful effects with the goal of identifying suitable materials for novel types of devices, our research attempts to bridge the gap between theoretical physics, basic materials science, and technologically important research.
