Venky joined TCD in December 1998 after completing his Ph.D. in Indian Institute of Technology, (I.I.T.) Madras (1994-1998). He is currently working on magnetic semiconductors, novel d0 ferromagnets, half metallic oxides and intermetallics, magnetotransport, hard and soft magnetic materials etc.
