Graduate Studentships in Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin invites applications for a number of PhD studentships in philosophy, to begin September 2012.
Preference will be given to those students whose proposed projects fall into one of the following areas of specialisation.
Ancient Philosophy, especially Plato and Aristotle (Dr. Vasilis Politis)
Psychological Philosophy; Berkeley, mental imaging; the senses; Irish philosophy; history of atheism (Professor David Berman)
Kant and post–Kantian philosophy, in particular Phenomenology. Self–knowledge and self–reference (Dr. Lilian Alweiss)
History of Analytic Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Philosophical Logic (Dr. James Levine)
Epistemology, Philosophy of Religion, Aquinas (Dr. Paul O'Grady)
Metaphysics and Ontology; Philosophy of Language and Logic; Philosophy of Mathematics; History of Analytic Philosophy; History of Philosophy and Logic in Central Europe (Professor Peter Simons)
Metaethics, moral psychology, normative ethics, well–being and happiness, human rights, theories of justice
We offer up to a maximum of three studentships for four years covering EU tuition fees. Should sufficient funds be available we may also cover non–EU tuition fees. Initially they will be for one year, and subject to students' performance in the first year, they will be renewable for three additional years.
