Donnellan Lectures

The next Donnellan Lectures in Philosophy, which take place tri–annually and go back to 1794, are scheduled for 5–9 May 2014. We are most glad at the prospect of welcoming, as our next Donnellan Lecturer, Professor David Chalmers, one of the most exciting philosophers currently. The Department is looking forward to the opportunity of studying, in anticipation of his visit to Trinity, the work of Professor Chalmers, and to discussing it with him during a seminar to be hosted in conjunction with the lecturers.
David Chalmers is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Consciousness at Australian National University. He is also Professor of Philosophy and co–director of the Center for Mind, Brain and Consciousness at New York University. Professor Chalmers's work is in the philosophy of mind and in related areas of philosophy and cognitive science. He is especially interested in consciousness, but is also interested in artificial intelligence and computation, in philosophical issues about meaning and possibility, and in the foundations of cognitive science and of physics.
