International Fellow
The tradition of creative writing long associated with 21 Westland Row is being upheld and nurtured by the people who work there today. The Writer Fellowship, co-sponsored by the School of English Trinity College Dublin and the Arts Council of Ireland, has since 1986 given student writers the opportunity to receive expert criticism, encouragement and guidance from experienced practitioners in the field.
From 2000 to 2006 in association with the British Council in Ireland, an International Writer Fellow post for the Michaelmas Term (October-December), was hosted by the School of English at the Oscar Wilde Centre. The Anglo-Hungarian poet George Szirtes was the first writer to hold this position.
