Schedule and Deadlines 2010-2011
ESSAY SUBMISSION
Michaelmas term (27 September – 17 December 2010)
1. Students are required to submit TWO essays relating to the Perspectives in Irish Writing Course and ONE essay on EITHER Swift OR Yeats. The essays relating to the Perspectives in Irish Writing are 1,500 words each; the first is due by Monday of week 8 of Michaelmas Term (15 November 2010) and the second by the Friday of week 1 of Hilary Term (21 January 2011). The essay on EITHER Swift OR Yeats is 3,000 words and is due by the Friday of week 1 of Hilary term (21 January 2011).
2. Students are required to submit ONE essay relating to their chosen option in this term. This essay is 5,000 words with submission by the Friday of week 3 of Hilary term (4 February 2011).
Hilary term (17 January – 8 April 2011)
3. Students are required to submit TWO essays relating to the Perspectives in Irish Writing Course and ONE essay on EITHER Joyce OR Beckett. The essays relating to the Perspectives in Irish Writing are 1,500 words each; the first is due on the Monday of week 8 of Hilary Term (7 March 2011), the second on the Friday of week 1 of Trinity Exam Term. The essay on EITHER Joyce OR Beckett is 3,000 words and is due by the Friday of week 1 of Trinity Exam Term (15 April 2011)
4. Students are required to submit ONE essay relating to their chosen option in this term. This essay is 5,000 words with submission by the Friday of week 3 of Trinity Exam Term (29 April 2011).
5. Submission by 10 December 2010 of portfolios for students wishing to apply for Creative Writing Option in Hilary Term 2011
Submission of Creative Writing Option work by the Friday of week 3 in Trinity Exam Term (29 April 2011).
Week 12 of Hilary term (11 April – 2 July 2011)
Indication and preliminary discussion of dissertation topics.
1 June 2011
Dissertation titles and outlines to be presented to supervisor for approval by course director.
May – August 2011
Consultations between students and supervisors on dissertations on the basis of individual arrangement.
31 August 2011
Submission of dissertation.
Award of degree to successful candidates at Spring Commencements in 2012.
