Periodicals Department

The Department's functions and responsibilities include:

• Managing and organising the journal print and electronic collection:
  • Print Journal Collection: Over 100,000 individual issues are received and recorded each year. Missing issues are claimed from publishers and suppliers. The Department works closely with the Agency for Legal Deposit Libraries in Edinburgh to ensure all legal deposit journal titles are received
  • Electronic Journal Collection: this collection of approx. 55,000 electronic journal titles is managed and represented through the Library catalogue
• Working closely with Readers' Services and the Accessions Department to get maximum value for the annual journals' budget
