Biography
Oran Doyle LL.B, LL.M (Harv), Ph.D., FTCD, Barrister-at-Law graduated with a gold medal from Trinity College. He lectures Constitutional Law I and Jurisprudence on the LL.B. programme and has previously lectured Contemporary Problems in Irish Constitutional law on the LL.M. programme. His areas of interest include environmental and planning law, equality law, constitutional law and jurisprudence. He is a co-author of the Habitats Directive in Ireland and is the author of Constitutional Equality Law, as well as a number of articles concerning jurisprudence and constitutional law. He is the co-editor of the Dublin University Law Journal. He is the Irish rapporteur to the European Legal Observatory on Natura 2000.

Postgraduate Research Students
I welcome inquiries from potential research students in the areas of constitutional law, jurisprudence and equality. I am currently supervising nine postgraduate research students. In the area of constitutional law, David Prendergast is analysing the legitimacy of the judicial review of political processes. Rachael Walsh is completing a PhD on property rights under the Irish Constitution. David Kenny is critically analyzing the doctrine of proportionality in relation to judicial review of legislative action, while Mellissa English is commencing a study of the non-legislative functions of the Oireachtas. Joseph Harrington is undertaking a PhD that analyses the concept of sovereignty and the sovereign in Irish constitutional law while Rebecca Halpin is completing an MLitt on the limiting provisions of the Constitution. In the area of jurisprudence, Cathal Curran is researching a PhD on the compatibility of the Rule of Law ideal with the reality of judicial discretion in interpretation. Maria Oleinik's thesis addresses the subject of justice and morality and its relationship to the philosophy of law, in particular to the process of legal adjudication. Gordon Wade is about to commence an MLitt assessing the legal rights that ought to be afforded to companion animals
