Trinity College Dublin's Law School is holding its Sixth Annual Freedom of Information conference on Saturday, 8 March 2008 in the Thomas Davis Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin. There have been significant legal developments over the past year particularly in relation to access to environmental information. Everyone involved with freedom of information needs to keep up to date with the practical implications of these and other changes.
The conference analyses what the new developments mean in practice. There is an experienced team of speakers who will ensure that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Ciaran Craven is a practising Barrister. He is the co-author of a textbook on Psychiatry and the Law and lectures in Medical Law on Trinity College’s Masters of Law programme and for several courses organised by the Faculty of Health Science.
Estelle Feldman is a Research Associate in the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin. Formerly MBA Programme Director of the Trinity School of Business Studies, she was the first woman president of the Irish MBA Association. She has extensive experience in general management. She writes on Information Law and the Ombudsman and on Constitutional Law for the Annual Review of Irish Law. She is co-author, with Robert Martin of Access to Information in Developing Countries, published by Transparency International.
Prof. Maeve McDonagh is an Associate Professor of Law at University College Cork and a solicitor with experience in private practice and in local government. She is author of Freedom of Information Law in Ireland (2nd ed., Thomson Round Hall, 2006). Her research interests include Freedom of Information Law, Data Protection and I.T. Law. She has lectured and published on FOI matters extensively in Ireland and abroad and is a member of the Irish Government's Citizen's Advisory group on Freedom of Information, a founder member of the Access Info Europe and a member of the Advisory Committee of the European Privacy Institute..
Niall Michel is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Cambridge University. Formerly qualified as a barrister he is now a partner in the Public and Administrative Law unit of Mason Hayes & Curran Solicitors and specialises in advising Irish public and regulatory bodies and others in administrative and public law matters, including judicial review and freedom of information. His practice also encompasses advising on public procurement and data protection. He has spoken and written widely on the topic of freedom of information and has recently been involved in advising public authorities in Northern Ireland on the U.K. Freedom of Information Act, 2000.
Dr Áine Ryall is a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at UCC where she teaches tort law, environmental law and European Union law. She is a qualified barrister and specialises in European Community environmental law and landlord and tenant law. Áine is a member of the European Council for Environmental Law/conseil européen du droit de l'environnement (CEDE). She has published widely on European and Irish environmental law both in Ireland and internationally. Prior to UCC, she worked as Legal Officer with the housing advice agency Threshold in its Dublin office. She was awarded a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence in June 2003.
