150 Years of Italian Unity
The Italian Department is collaborating with an Italian Cultural Institute project to celebrate the first 150 years of Italain Uniity with two events in November 2011, organized in conjunction with several Irish universities:
(1) A lecture on Tuesday 1st November 2011 at 7:30pm at the Emmet Theatre, Trinity College Dublin"
“Italy: Myths and Memories of Unification” by Prof. Lucy Riall (Birkbeck College, University of London)
(2) An evening at the Italian Institute of Culture on Thursday 3rd November 2011, starting at 7:00pm
- Patrick Geoghegan (TCD) interviews Prof. Kevin B. Nowlan (Emeritus, University College Dublin) on Ireland and the Italian Risorgimento
Followed by two talks:
- “Ireland, Garibaldi and Italian Unification” by Anne O’Connor (National University of Ireland, Galway)
- “Women’s Places in a United Italy” by Emer Delaney (IRCHSS Scholar, Trinity College Dublin)
