triarc - Trinity Irish Art Research Centre

Trinity College's Irish Art Research Centre (triarc) was established in 2003 to promote specialist education and research in Irish visual culture. The history of Irish art spans several millennia. From the rock art of ancient megalithic tombs to the 'Golden Age' of the Early Christian period which produced masterpieces such as illuminated manuscripts and high crosses; from the gracious country houses and townscapes of the Georgian era to the renaissance in Modern and contemporary art, which has given more recent artists a place in the international arena.

The Irish Art Research Centre is based at Trinity College, the University of Dublin. Founded in 1592, it is Ireland's oldest university, located in the centre of the city, a stone's throw from a wealth of museums, commercial galleries and research libraries.

The National Gallery of Ireland , National Museum, National Library, Chester Beatty Library, Douglas Hyde Gallery and Irish Architectural Archive are within a few minute's walk, while the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Irish Visual Art Library and Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane are in close proximity. Dublin also provides a perfect base from which to visit the many other galleries and historic sites located around the country.
