Summary of key Water and Wastewater projects:

  • Rainwater harvesting system in the Bioscience building.
  • Green roofs in three locations on the campus. Help attenuate rainwater and reduces runoff due to plant absorption.
  • Use of Sustainable Urban Drainage Schemes (SUDS) in new building developments (including Lloyd building, Sports Centre & Bioscience building). Reed beds installed in Trinity Halls for rainwater runoff.
  • Majority of urinals are sensor controlled reducing flow to a minimum outside operational times.
  • Ground water well west of Physics is used for watering the pitch.
  • Large quantities of TCD's grounds are green/grass areas that naturally absorb rainfall and do not contribute to surface run off for treatment.
