On this webpage you can find out how you can help us manage our waste better, increase the quantity of recycling and reduce the amount of litter being generated on campus.

You can find a list of tips for waste management, recycling and litter reduction by clicking on the What can I do green button.

 

By clicking on the Baseline and Results green button you can view the amount of waste generated on TCD in 2011-12, the average tonnes of waste a day and monthly recycling rate on TCD. You can also find out about the recycling rate in 2012 outside campus, hazardous waste streams in 2010 and the hazardous waste arising between 2004 and 2010.

 

The Green Map green button leads you to the green Map webpage where you can find the Location of all outdoor waste infrastructure on campus.

 

Recycling Facilities Search

Locate your nearest recycling facility, bring bank or recycling centre online or by downloading the ‘Recyclemore Search’ app to your smartphone, http://www.recyclemore.ie/mobile-app .

 

Did you KNOW!

Recycling:

  • Up to 60% of the items that ends up in the wastebin could be recycled.
  • Up to 80% of a vehicle can be recycled.
  • A single computer can contain up to 2kg of lead.
  • Only approx. 15% of printer cartridges are currently recycled, the remainder end up in landfill and will take 1000years to break down.
  • All waste batteries are classified as hazardous waste and should be disposed of properly.
