Provost's Welcome Message

Provost's Welcome Message

I am delighted to welcome you to the Green Pages website which will inform you on the efforts Trinity is making to raise environmental awareness in the College and to improve the quality of the Campus.
Trinity was granted the Green Flag in April 2013. This goal was achieved by Trinity’s unwavering commitment to its objectives for energy and carbon emissions, waste management/litter reduction, water and waste-water management, sustainable transport, resource use, biodiversity, green procurement, education and research, communication and student involvement.
While environmental initiatives have been on-going in Trinity for many years, involving both student and staff activities, Trinity endeavours to renew its commitment to sustainability and the Green Campus Programme. Trinity’s renewed commitment is evidenced in the strategic objective laid out in the University’s Strategic Plan 2014-2019, where Trinity aims to demonstrate institutional leadership by being a sustainable campus.

In an effort to achieve this new objective, Trinity intends to promote sustainability research and teaching, publishing an Annual Sustainability Report and a carbon footprint action plan, setting up a Sustainable Campus Advisory Group, as well as, fostering links with DCC and EU smart city initiatives.

I am fully committed to achieving the above objective; it is an important objective and one in which the College must play a leading role in its efforts of becoming a university of global consequence.

Please take some time to peruse these webpages and learn of the great work taking place in College and how you can participate and contribute to the continued success of Trinity’s sustainability.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Prendergast
