Access to Information on the Environment: The legislation governing Access to Information on the Environment is the The European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007 (PDF). This gives legal rights to those seeking access to environmental information from public authorities.

Summery of key Communication, Student Involvement and Transparency projects:

  • TCD Green Week: The TCD Green Week has been run every spring for over ten years and is an annual celebration of nature, and provides a forum for staff and students to share ideas on how to protect the environment, both locally and globally. Events held include guided walks, debates, seminars, lectures, Provost launch, competitions for green prices (bicycles), green fairs, coffee mornings, photo shows, pub quizzes, cloths drives, recycling drivers and art exhibitions.
  • Regular emails from CSC to all societies about Green Week events.
  • Statistics for green pages use to be updated monthly and published on the pages.
  • Green Week YouTube video used to highlight TCD Green Week and other eco initiatives.
  • Green Week competitions run to raise general environmental awareness.
  • Green Week events with Science Gallery, Engineers Ireland, STEPS, etc. Past presenters have included CFO Kingspan, Minister Phil Hogan, EPA, SEAI, Lord Mayor of Dublin.
  • Set up and use social media including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook to promote events, the committee and environmental education.
